Terms of use

Last updated October 1, 2026

These terms cover your Revealed account and your use of revealed.social and the sites on the Revealed network. They are short on purpose. By creating an account you agree to them.

Buying a membership or sending a tip is also covered by the terms of sale and the refund policy. What we do with your data is in the privacy policy.

Who we are

Revealed is run by James Brinkerhoff, an individual based in the United States. In these terms "we" and "us" means him. A "show" or a "creator" means the people who run a site on the network.

Your account

You need to be at least 13 to make an account. One account works on every site in the network.

Use an email address you control, and keep your password and passkeys to yourself. You are responsible for what is done with your account. If you think someone else has used it, change your password and tell us.

Your @handle and display name are public. Don't use one that pretends to be someone else, or that is abusive. We may ask you to change it.

What you post

Some sites let you post: replies, reviews and news tips in a community section. You keep ownership of what you write. By posting it, you let us and the show host it, show it on the network and share it through the show's own channels, such as its newsletter, its social accounts and the fediverse. That permission is what we need to run the site.

A community section has its own contributor terms, which give the show a broader licence to what you submit there. For those submissions, the contributor terms apply.

What you contributed stays after you delete your account, with your name and the link to your account removed; only replies still waiting for review are deleted. The privacy policy explains this. Shows decide what they publish, and they or we can remove anything at any time.

Using Revealed fairly

Don't use Revealed to break the law, to harass, threaten or abuse anyone, to post hate, to share someone else's private information, to post work that isn't yours to share, or to spam. Don't try to get into accounts or parts of the sites you aren't meant to, get around limits, overload the sites with automated traffic, or spread malware.

Memberships, tips and newsletters

When you send a tip or start a membership, the creator is the seller: it is charged on the creator's own Stripe account, connected to Revealed through Stripe Connect. Some memberships that started before this setup are still billed through Revealed's own Stripe account. The terms of sale cover what you are buying, renewals and cancelling, and the refund policy covers refunds.

A newsletter subscription is separate from your account, and every newsletter email has an unsubscribe link. While you have an account we send you the emails it needs: confirming your address, resetting your password, sign-in links and notices about the account.

Other people's content and links

Shows own what they publish. Some pages link to, or load content from, other sites, including affiliate links to retailers. Those sites have their own terms, and we are not responsible for them.

Ending your account

You can delete your account at any time, from the account page on any show's site. Deleting your Revealed account cancels every membership immediately: access ends at once, and the rest of the current period is not refunded.

We may remove content, or close an account, that breaks these terms. Where we reasonably can, we will tell you why by email first.

If we close an account that has a live paid membership, we cancel the membership and promptly refund the unused part of the current period. That refund applies only when we close the account; the refund policy covers a membership you cancel or an account you delete yourself.

If you run or co-host a show, ask us to close it or hand it over before you delete your account.

No guarantees

Revealed is run by one person. We work to keep it running and your data safe, but the sites are provided "as is", without warranties of any kind, and features can change, break or be withdrawn.

None of this section or the next takes away anything the terms of sale or the refund policy promise for something you have already paid for. Where they say something different, they apply to that purchase.

Limits on liability

As far as the law allows, we are not liable for indirect or consequential losses, lost profits or lost data. Our total liability to you for any claim is limited to the larger of what you paid through Revealed in the 12 months before the claim, or US$50. Nothing in these terms limits a liability that the law does not allow to be limited, or takes away a consumer right you have where you live.

Changes and governing law

When these terms change, the date at the top of this page changes with it. If you keep using your account after a change, the new terms apply.

These terms are governed by the laws of the State of Utah, USA.
